How useful are AI tools for designers?
This project explores the use of two AI image creation and enhancement tools, Krea and Vizcom, in a chair design project. It examines how AI can streamline the design process, from concept creation to final renderings, offering new possibilities for innovative and visually compelling designs.

Used various software to improve the render quality of the chair, from Fusion 360 to AI image enhancers, Vizcom and KREA, and finally Photoshop to remove artifacts.
Process.
How I used AI to save time and improve image render quality.
Instead of CAD modelling the design, I 3D scanned a low-fidelity model I made. This saved some time in the development process.

The 3D scan was uploaded to Vizcom and various versions of the designs were made.

This is the model I achieved using the 3D scanned model and Vizcom. Though it took some time, the results are impressive. Recreating this entire scene, including lighting, environment, and the sofa, would have probably taken double the time. Moreover, it would require a powerful computer to execute the render, this was done on a website.

After some feedback, I decided to change the design slightly to improve its ergonomics. I wanted to capture the feeling of relaxation, thus an image of a relaxed person sitting on a beach chair was used as a form guide.

This is the final model I developed in Fusion 360. For this design, I wanted to use blue velvet, but this was not available on Fusion. In this scenario, Vizcom is extremely useful.
Using Vizcom, I was easily able to change the generic fabric material to velvet. Going a step further, using Krea, I upscaled the image and added more realism, seen by the fabric stretch marks.
Closing thoughts.
This project has highlighted the important role of AI in industrial design, allowing me to easily enhance render quality. Integrating this technology into the workflow is essential, especially with challenging materials like silk. While traditional rendering involves adjusting refraction and lighting, a simple prompt in KREA enables me to achieve great results with minimal effort.
